“Good design doesn’t announce itself. It just feels inevitable, like it couldn’t have gone any other way.”
— Shannon Thun

Boise Interior Design Studio | Storytelling Through Space

At Aisling Designs, every project begins the same way: not with a trend board, but with a conversation about how you actually live. That conversation shapes everything that follows — the floor plan, the palette, the furnishings, and the finishing details that make a house feel like yours.

Shannon Thun, Founder

Aisling Designs was founded by Shannon Thun (ASID, RIDQC), whose path into interior design started in editorial storytelling and architectural detailing — two disciplines that still shape how she works today. Editorial work trains an eye for narrative: what a room says before anyone reads the room. Architectural detailing trains precision: how a reveal, a transition, or a sightline either holds together or doesn’t. Shannon brings both to every project, treating a home the way a good story treats its details — nothing included that doesn’t earn its place, and nothing left out that the space actually needs.

That background is also why Aisling Designs operates as both designer and general contractor. Shannon manages each project start to finish, so the vision set in the first conversation carries through construction, sourcing, and final styling with one person accountable for the outcome — not handed off between a designer and a separate contractor along the way.

Our Style

Aisling Designs’ work is grounded in proportion, restraint, and craftsmanship built to last. The goal on every project is balance — rooms that use heirloom-quality materials with intention, not excess — so the finished space feels inevitable, as if it had always belonged. This is what we mean when we say our work is built, not decorated: every choice, from a floor plan down to a hardware finish, is made to hold up structurally and aesthetically for years, not just to photograph well on day one.

That same eye extends to materials and sourcing. Aisling Designs is proud to be Idaho’s exclusive Farrow & Ball stockist, offering tailored color consultations alongside handcrafted paints and wallpapers, plus a curated selection of luxury wallcoverings and artisanal finishes from around the world. Our storefront and design studio at 722 N Orchard St., Boise, also carries custom products and bespoke brands such as House of Hackney and Schumacher.

How We Work

The process is consistent from project to project: we start by listening — to how you move through your home, how light falls across a room, and what you actually need your space to do for you. That understanding becomes the blueprint for the layout, materials, and details that follow, whether the project is a single-room refresh or a full home renovation. Because design and construction are managed by the same team, clients have a single point of contact for the life of a project — no re-explaining the vision to a new contractor, no re-sourcing finishes that were already chosen.
